Currently trying out what Dreamwidth is all about. Went by DreamsWithoutDreamers over on tumblr but I'm Untrust_Us on ao3 so I'll stick with that.
It's interesting that even though many things do stay the same on different sites, the format of them very much shapes how we interact.
Another thing is that even though a migration and the uprooting of that cozy little corner you've built can be very uncomfortable and feel as though you're trying out an unfitted sweater, it also wakes you up a bit. Makes you look around and think about which parts you'll miss. About what you want to bring with you into new adventures while also dragging the curtains away from a window into a part of the world you never knew existed.
Everyone that now moves across this electronic webb of ours deliberatly made that decision. It is actually quite thrilling to see this idea reverberate into something concrete. While this doesn't have direct real life impact it is still quite something to see in action.
Anyways, I do believe I'll enjoy the way this type of site deals with posts and comments while I'll sorely miss coming all the stunning art works (of which my tumblr was basically 80% reblogs with) and other image based communication tumblr thrived on.
Onwards and upwards fellow gentlebeings!
